Leading the segment in this department is the Genesis GV70. Standard on every GV70 is a 300-horsepower 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-banger that bludgeons the concrete at a torqued rate of 311 lb-ft. What’s under the hood of the GV70 3.5T model? A 3.5L twin-turbo V6 makes a blistering 375 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque. Both engines out-duel the 2022 RDX, and it isn’t close.

While the RDX gets by with standard front-wheel drive (and available “Super Handling All-Wheel Drive”), all Genesis GV70 models stick to AWD. That’s what’s expected of SUVs these days, and Acura isn’t keeping up with the status quo.

3. Its Technology Game is Unbeatable

Both luxury SUVs have luxury-SUV features, but it’s the GV70 that goes above and beyond the call of duty.

When you’re sitting in a pointless office meeting and start feeling worried about your GV70, don’t let catastrophizing thoughts invade your 9-to-5. With Genesis’s Surround View Monitor and unique Remote Image Capture system, you can use your phone to check on your luxury SUV in real-time and from anywhere. The 2022 Acura RDX doesn’t have many similar features to monitor your vehicle while you’re doing the daily grind. You’ll just have to have faith in your fellow humans.

Standard 14.5” HD Touchscreen

Genesis’s next-generation infotainment system is on full display, literally, inside the all-new Genesis GV70. The cloud-powered infotainment software provides quick and accurate directions and integrates seamlessly with your smartphone. Best of all, it’s fitted within a standard 14.5-inch high-def touchscreen.

A smaller 10.2-inch HD center display is found in the Acura RDX, and there is no upgrade or larger screen available.

Fingerprint Reader

Harnessing the power of the industry’s first fingerprint reader, the 2022 Genesis GV70 allows you to hop in the driver’s seat and start the car with the quick tap of your tip (fingertip, that is). The setup can be custom programmed with separate, personalized driver profiles, and users can even activate Valet mode without a PIN. If you’ve got fingers, you’re all set.

Unless you count knobs and buttons as “next-gen,” the 2022 RDX does not have any comparable features.

Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist – Reverse

Although the RDX and GV70 are both ranked among the safest SUVs for sale, the 2022 GV70 has a slight advantage over Acura: Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist-Reverse (PCA-R). This Genesis safety feature helps prevent collisions with other vehicles, objects, or pedestrians when reversing into or exiting a parking spot. If you don’t heed its warnings and take action, PCA-R can even apply brakes when a collision seems inevitable.

Additionally, the Genesis GV70 also includes standard features that are either unavailable or optional upgrades in the 2022 RDX. This includes rain-sensing wipers, a roof rack, and GPS navigation. The range-topping GV70 3.5T also includes optional rear-seat climate control settings, which the RDX doesn’t offer.
