Genesis proudly unveiled the Neolun concept SUV in the boutique-like showroom at Genesis House in the meatpacking district on 10th Avenue in New York, and this amazing new EV luxury SUV represents a combination of the ultimate in Genesis hospitality with an array of state-of-the-art technology advancements that will set it apart from its competition.

Designing the Genesis Neolun Concept Car

The exterior of this Genesis EV concept car is distinctive in its clean “Deductive Design” approach – a philosophy which intentionally removes any unnecessary details.

The design was inspired at least partially by the striking and masterful simplicity of Korea’s iconic moon-shaped porcelain jars.

One of the most striking exterior design aspects of the many on the Genesis Neolun concept car is the lack of B-pillars which typically connect a vehicle’s body to the roof. This approach grants the Neolun a tremendously open interior space as well as a passenger experience maximized for convenience. Vehicles without B-pillars have been attempted before, but the development team at Genesis has evolved this approach to a level where it is feasible in a production vehicle.

Speaking of passengers – the Neolun makes egress and ingress a pleasure with electric side steps which deploy automatically when the doors open and seamlessly retract when the doors are secured.

The two-line lamps of the Genesis Neolun concept EV are seamlessly integrated into the body of the front and rear of the Genesis electric vehicle and communicate the power and grandeur of this luxury EV.

Two tone paint typically separates a vehicle with stark color contrasts, but the two-tone paint scheme on the Neolun subtly combined “Midnight Black” and “Majestic Blue” to enhance the exterior of an already elegant Genesis concept vehicle by evoking the serenity of Korea’s nights.

This electric Genesis is visually striking while evoking luxury and comfort.

Naming The Genesis Neolun – the Best Electric Car

Root words make delightful cocktail party conversation for the logophiles in the room, and the Genesis Neolun concept SUV combines a Greek and Latin root word in its quest to help define the vision for the future of the Genesis Brand.

Neo is a familiar Greek root word which means new and is often bandied about in neonatal wards, around archaeological digs exploring the neolithic period, and in corporate board rooms around the country when a batch of neophyte interns begin their exciting careers.

Lun comes from the Latin word for the moon, but we’re fans of the expansion of that Latin word into the name of the Roman divine personification of the moon: Luna.

Combine Neo with Lun and you have the modern “New Moon” – a stage in the cosmic cycle which represents new beginnings as well as the opportunity for transformation and change.

We’re confident that as you explore this new Genesis EV concept vehicle, you’ll agree Neolun is the perfect name for this category defining Genesis future vehicle.

The Interior of This Electric Genesis

Neolun EV passengers begin their experience stepping through the B-pillarless doors into a spacious cabin which represents a modern take on Korea’s noted culture of hospitality. This capacious passenger cabin emphasizes relaxation and comfort with a host of technologies that enhance the luxuriousness of the Genesis Neolun EV.

Ondol is a component of traditional Korean architecture which offers underfloor heating and the design team at Genesis has integrated a radiant heating system throughout the Neolun concept Genesis vehicle as both a tribute to Korean heritage and with an eye to the future of luxury EV vehicles.

The low-power Ondol-inspired heating system has been carefully integrated into the dashboard, door trims, floor, seatbacks, and console sides. Miamians lucky enough to own a Genesis equipped with this amazing technology will scoff at even the coolest mornings – not that we have too many of those!

The front seats of the Neolun concept are capable of swiveling to provide an interesting maximization of space and practicality for passengers in this Genesis EV concept vehicle. This forward-thinking design is a likely look at one possible future where fully self-driving vehicles are the norm, and where luxury passengers are able to communicate, relax, work, and entertain themselves while the car does the driving. We’re not there yet, but the technology is evolving and Genesis is dreaming in a grand fashion when it comes to the Neolun concept EV vehicle.

The beautiful interior of the Neolun EV concept is a combination of luxurious cashmere in “Royal Indigo” and naturally dyed “Purple Silk” vintage-inspired leather. Those prestigious seating surfaces sit atop a dark colored floor covered in real wood.

The Sound Architecture of the Neolun EV concept vehicle from Genesis was designed to surround its occupants with a three dimensional audio experience harkens to time spent in the world’s most famous concert halls. The speakers are strategically placed to allow each passenger to enjoy unequaled sound quality, and the crystal sphere at the front of the Neolun will rotate into a tweeter for an even more complete sound experience.

Is There a Genesis Neolun EV Concept Release Date?

Genesis has not published an estimated release date for the Neolun EV concept vehicle, but that isn’t out of the ordinary for a concept vehicle. Concept vehicles are often used to show off an exciting new design approach, a new drivetrain, a variety of new technologies, or something else that will shock the market but that doesn’t mean every concept car will end up on a dealership lot. Check out the Genesis website for information on a variety of Genesis Concept Vehicles to get a sense of possible future Genesis models over time.

There are two pieces of excellent news to consider when you’re thinking about the impressive Neolun concept:

  1. You’ll likely see many aspects of the Neolun Concept EV in future Genesis vehicles as our brand continues to shift the paradigm of luxury vehicles.
  2. There are Genesis electric vehicles on the market right now available as an introduction to our amazing brand.
