Spring of 2022 is almost here, and with it, a sleek and stunning revelation to the world of all-electric vehicles: the GV60.
With the electric revolution in full swing, the acclaimed automaker has decided to release their own first dedicated EV luxury platform. The GV60 provides all the comfort, intuitiveness, and drivability you’ve come to expect from Genesis, with an efficient and fast-charging electric motor, so you can ride in style without ever pumping a drop of gas again.
While the American model has yet to be fully revealed, Genesis hasn’t been shy about touting all of the killer stuff they have in the works for the global market.
Let’s plug in.
Mind-Blowing Features

The GV60 is looking like it’s absolutely going to be living up to Genesis’ track record of being at the forefront of unique and inventive amenities. In fact, some of these you’ll notice before you even set foot in the car.
Genesis envisions a future without the need for car keys. They’re making this happen, in part, with the new Digital Key 2, an upgraded version of the previous iteration that allows you access to the vehicle using a sharable phone application. That’s just the tip of the iceberg, though, in terms of connectivity and biometrics.

With the new FaceConnect feature, you don’t need any kind of key at all, digital or otherwise. Simply walk up to the driver door and allow the internal camera to scan your face, and the electric door handles pop right out. Basically, this works in the same way as phone facial recognition tech, and the Near Infra-Red camera ensures that it works in all lighting conditions. So, unless you have an evil twin, you can rest easy knowing nobody else is getting in.
Another additional perk is that, if you share a vehicle with a family member, you can program two people into the facial recognition software. And, when the car scans your face, it automatically adjusts the seats, steering wheel, mirrors, and even heads-up display to the specific driver’s preset specifications.

Okay, fine, but you still need a key to start the thing, right?
Nope!
All you have to do is enable the fingerprint scanner located near the patented Crystal Sphere shifting mechanism, and as long as your print is in the car’s smart system as an approved driver, just apply the brake, push the start button, and off you go, totally keyless.
Once you’re on the road, you can make use of easy-to-master steering mounted controls to manipulate what Genesis has dubbed the connected car Integrated Cockpit—a gorgeous, extensively customizable panoramic display that blends the traditional dash clusters and infotainment center into one seamless piece. This allows drivers to access media, navigation, and pertinent battery status with shocking ease. Oh, and did we mention it also responds to voice commands?
With the GV60, Genesis aims to begin providing a “luxury brand lineup that interacts with drivers.”
An Electric Car That’s Fun to Drive

Genesis also seeks to maintain their identity of “Athletic Elegance.”
The body of this crossover utility vehicle is designed with optimal aerodynamics in mind. A deceptively minimalistic exterior design belies the characteristic Genesis flair.

What’s really exciting, though, is the Boost Mode. When activated, it lasts for ten seconds, and calls to mind characters in the Fast and Furious movies slamming the NOS to leave their fellow racers in the dust. It cranks up the power output with a push of a button, allowing the vehicle to go from 0 to 60 mph in just four seconds.
Drift mode is also available, which provides a more “dynamic experience,” delegating power to the appropriate rear drive and braking systems and temporarily disconnecting the frontal motor from the driveshaft. This is, of course, coupled with stability control for the casual driver’s safety.
In addition, using the stellar sound system developed by Bang & Olufson, drivers can enhance their experience with three different sound modes: “Futuristic,” “G-Engine,” and “E-Motor,” all of which have their own unique qualities to tailor your roading experience and raise the pulse in whichever way you choose.
With the GV60, you’ve got options. The already-impressive standard model makes 258 lb.-ft of torque. It’s clear that Genesis seeks to prove that, just because it doesn’t burn fuel, doesn’t mean it can’t burn some rubber.
Dazzling EV Charging Potential

There’s a lot of potential here in the world of sustainable EVs.
The aforementioned Performance model is estimated to clock a range of about 368km (229 miles) on a full charge, which is impressive, given its focus on providing drivers with a fun-filled drive, above all else. The Standard model is even better in terms of range, with the AWD version getting 400km (249 miles) per charge. The RWD edition is even better, with a solid 280 miles on a full battery.
Genesis is also including a battery conditioning function that optimizes usage based on external factors, like temperature and humidity. This works by internally regulating the battery’s temperature, allowing you to get the most out of your battery, even from a cold start.
Genesis is also committed to enabling some of the fastest charging times on the market. Compatible charging ports include the 400-volt and 800-volt fast-charging stations. Genesis reports that, under the best conditions, you can go from 10 to 80 percent charge in just 18 minutes. As a cherry on top, Genesis has even confirmed a wireless charging option, though, again, it’s unclear just when it will hit the US market.
